The city of Los Angeles, also known as LA and/or the City of Angels, is the most prominent and major cultural hub on the West Coast of the United States.  With a population of nearly 4 million people, it is the 2nd most populated city in America, behind New York City.  If the city of LA were to be its own state, based solely on population, it would be considered the 5th largest state in the nation.  Having so many residents, the city is one of two U.S. cities without a majority population.  People from 140 countries, who speak nearly 90 different languages, currently call Los Angeles home.  This alone shows the ethnic diversity that is present in the city.

Los Angeles also has many other intriguing qualities and features.  LA is the only city in North America to have hosted the Summer Olympics twice in 1932 and 1984.  The 2028 Summer Olympics are also planned to be held in Los Angeles for the third time.  In addition to the Olympics, many professional sports teams also call the city home.  Some of the major professional teams include: the Dodgers and Angels of Major League Baseball; the Rams and Chargers of the National Football League; as well as the Kings of the National Hockey League.  All of these professional sports events are a great attraction for tourists and business people alike, who are looking for different entertainment options during their visit.

The tourism and entertainment industries in LA are both extremely important economic elements for the city.  In fact, the city is known as the “Entertainment Capital of the World.”  The film and entertainment industries in LA alone are said to generate about $50 billion each year in direct sales.

While it is increasingly difficult to list all of the amazing destinations and places to visit when in Los Angeles, we’ve put together a list of some of our top favorites.  Our favorites are Disneyland, the Hollywood Sign, the Getty Center, Rodeo Drive, the Griffith Observatory, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Venice Beach, Paramount Pictures Studios….the list can go on and on forever!

Booth Design Idea’s Tips For Beginners

Is this your first time exhibiting at a trade show in Los Angeles? Not sure where to even begin? Our team at Booth Design Ideas is here to help! We’ve put together this list of some key points to focus on when planning for your next event in LA:

Budget

Make sure you have a designated budget to meet all of your exhibiting needs.  If this is the first and only show you plan on attending this year, you might want to consider the more affordable option of renting your booth.  If you plan on exhibiting at more than one show, perhaps three or four per year. then purchasing a full booth or display may be the best option for your company.  It’s important to weigh out all of these options and decide what is the best choice financially.

Timeline

Having a set timeline for planning for your event is important for anyone exhibiting at a trade show or convention, but it is immensely critical for first-timers.  Usually, anywhere from 6-8 months out from the date of the show is an optimal time to start planning your first step to getting your booth or display built.  Pushing everything off until the last minute is not advised, especially if this is your first show.  Having more time will allow for a more complete and polished end result.  In addition to your pre-show timeline, it’s also important to allow additional time for any complications that may be introduced during set up.

Show Size

Many companies who are exhibiting for the first time believe that the bigger the show, the better.  Sometimes, this may be true, but it isn’t always accurate.  It’s important to do the proper research on any show that you are thinking about attending and make sure that you will stand out from competing booths and displays.  For example, if you know that a top competitor has a 50 x 30 booth locked down, your plans for a 10 x 10 might pale in comparison to such a large, and likely extravagant display.

Placement

Proper placement and layout of your booth is a key focus point that is often overlooked, but it could be one of the most integral factors in whether your booth is a failure or a success.  Going back to our tip about planning and timelines, starting the process early can also ensure that you have first-pick at where you would like your booth to be located on the show floor.  We call these highly sought after areas “sweet spots.”  An example of such a “sweet spot” is usually on the corners of a row. This location offers two entrance points for show attendees and outstanding walk-by traffic.  Other “sweet spots” include the entrance to the trade show itself, which offers another area of high traffic and passersby.  The type of booth space that you book at your show is also something to take into consideration during the planning process.  Island, Peninsula, and Inline booths are some of the different types of booth layout areas that can be booked or reserved at your next trade show or exhibiting event.  Choosing the right area and designing your booth in tune with that spot is of extreme importance when thinking about the overall image of your display.  Although placement is important, there are many other aspects that factor into having a successful trade show experience — it’s how you use your space to display your brand that really matters.

Overall Experience

When exhibiting at your first show, it is important to not only be cutting-edge and creative but to also create a one-of-a-kind experience that will make a lasting and memorable first impression.  Look at your booth or display from the customer’s point of view, and visualize what they would want to see from your company.  Often times companies fail to do this and forget the consumer in the process.

By keeping all of these tips in mind, your first trade show experience in Los Angeles, California will surely be successful and one to remember!

Los Angeles’ Convention and Expo Centers

Los Angeles’ primary trade show and exhibition spot is the Los Angeles Convention Center located in the heart of Downtown L.A.

Los Angeles Convention Center

The Los Angeles Convention Center, also known as the LACC, was originally built in 1969.  It’s one of the largest convention centers in the United States, getting about 2 MILLION visitors each year!  The LACC features over 700,000 square feet of exhibition space in addition to meeting spaces, a 299 seat theater, three food courts, and on-site parking for more than 5400 vehicles.

The venue is set to host a total of six sports during the 2028 Summer Olympics: women’s basketball, fencing, boxing, taekwondo, BMX freestyle, and table tennis.  The LACC is also known for other interesting events and things such as serving as the set for movie scenes in films like Rush Hour and Starship Troopers.  Another fun fact about the top convention center in Los Angeles, the LACC is the first building to be (LEED) certified for Existing Buildings from the United States Green Building Council.

Some of the top trade shows and conventions that are held at the LACC are BeautyCon, Anime Expo, TheFitExpo and many more!
